Joseph Fungsang is an artist based in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated with bachelor’s degrees in visual art and German studies from Brown University (Providence, Rhode Island, USA) and received a law degree from The Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio, USA). His paintings examine the cultural intersections and contradictions that he experiences as an American-born son of Chinese immigrant parents. The artist acknowledges his mediated perspective while seeking to construct new meanings from otherwise mundane elements of daily life. In addition to his work as an artist, he is active as an editor of art publications and is a licensed attorney practicing in the area of immigration law. He held a solo exhibition of paintings at Hapjungjigu, Seoul (Decade, 2015) and participated in SEOUL BABEL (Seoul Museum of Art, 2016).
